Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has advised President Buhari to have a meeting with the leader of the now-outlawed secessionist group IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. In an interview with The Newsweek in London yesterday September 15th, Obasanjo said he sees nothing wrong in President Buhari meeting with the IPOB leader and that him, Obasanjo, would also like to meet with Kanu and his likes in Nigeria.
“I don’t see anything wrong in that [Buhari meeting with Kanu]. I would not object to that. If anything, I would encourage it. I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, [and ask:] ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the southeast but from all parts of Nigeria.” he said
