1000 Young Africans Arrived In The United States Thanks To The Program Set Up By Barack Obama!!

In terms of US-to-international cooperation, particularly towards the African continent, the arrival of Donald Trump at the White House since last January has not yet had too many palpable negative impacts. As a result, young Africans can continue to enjoy the benefits of the Young African Leaders Initiative  (Yali), a program launched by Barack Obama for four years.
It is a training program for young leaders who have projects for the development of the African continent. Students, researchers or young professionals in the public or private sector are between 25 and 35 years old who have been selected for their expertise and potential. ”  This is a great academic opportunity for these young people and a great way to The United States to build a network on the continent,  “explains Percy Hintzen, professor and director of African Studies at FIU.

For the fourth consecutive year, 1,000 young Africans arrived at the end of June in the United States to attend a semester at one of the many partner universities across the country. As is the case at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, where 25 young people from various African countries (Ethiopia, Nigeria, Comoros, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, Mauritania …) start classes.

African youth may meet Donald Trump

The 1,000 students hold a scholarship. They will attend six weeks of courses in business and entrepreneurship,   civic leadership and public administration, before flying in mid-August for the fourth Mandela Washington Fellowship summit   in the capital The United States. Perhaps they will have the opportunity to meet with President Trump if he agrees to take part in it as did each of his predecessors.
Subsequently, African students will return to their respective campuses for an additional six weeks, before returning to their countries where they will still benefit from the Yali network, as well as the facilities offered by Usaid, a privileged partner of this initiative, which has been a success since Its launch. More than 64,000 young people had sent their applications in early 2017 to participate in this edition.
