Scientists Discover Herb That Fights Dementia And Increases Memory By 75%

According to BBC, it turns out that there are some compounds in rosemary essential oil which are responsible for some changes in memory performance.
One of the compounds is called 1,8-cineol, which as well smells wonderful (if you like that sort of things), and it may act in the same way as the drugs licensed to treat dementia, which causes some increasing in a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine.
These compounds do this in a way that they prevent the breakdown of the neurotransmitter by an enzyme. This is also highly plausible – inhalation is one of the best ways in which you can get drugs into your brain.
When you are eating some drug, it may be broken down in our liver which processes everything absorbed by the gut. On the other hand, by inhalation, small molecules can pass into the bloodstream and from there to the brain without being broken down by the liver.
According to recent studies, rosemary has a stunning effect when it comes to the case of memory loss and the onset of mental slowing associated with the diseases.
Some of the test subjects which were used in the study of Mark Moss and his team of scientists, have improved their scores on various recall and visualization tasks with the help of a whiff of rosemary.
According to another study, rosemary anticipated some positive effects when it comes to the treatment of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Those findings were impressive:
“All patients showed significant improvement in…. cognitive function on both [tests] after therapy. In particular, patients with Alzheimer’s showed significant improvement in total scores.”
All these researches give us hope that rosemary can be a very helpful and powerful natural remedy for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. So, in order to improve the performance of your brain, you should consume rosemary in all the possible ways.
